We have a pre-final presentation, on the next week.. We have to show two chairs, one presentable, that will show the aesthetic of the chair, and second seatable, to check the construction, and the ergonomic issue.
I's still working on SolidWorks, whit sheet metal.

New twist, the chair hopefully will by stackable. Did it all in solid by Sheet metal. So now I can unfold it and to see the patter.

Have no really time to update the blog. working now on the right construction, have to decide about the material. It can be made of aluminum, plastic, or even ply wood. I guess that ill stay with the aluminum folding. that what I did in a last two weeks.

quick rendering just to see the proportions and materials.

I got it!

Finally after long sleepless week I got it, the new chair, I tried to save something from the previous moke ups, I took the back, the open geometry pattern, that make 3d surface when lock it.
So that's what I did:

I took foamed PVC sheets, from a garbage of some typography.

It has some print, and actually really like it, and the color is very nice, unfortunately  my phone camerra cant show the real one.

From this point I need to find the right proportion, and to choose a right technology, and material. Its can be a sheet metal, or press, or plastic mono block, or even ply wood.

Next 4 weeks

This was real tough month, really had no time to do nothing. That's was the first month in my new studio,
so its was hard to manege all the processes.
I wanted to do the chair from cnc cut, and I stuck with some problems, may be smart but pretty ugly shapes. In the last week we had kind of mid course presentation, or "Concept presentation"', and I didn't have something new, I tried to improve the firs moke up :

1st week

hey...I did it again, its my second blog. Its going to be a blog that following one of the main courses, and as you can understand we going to design a chair.
My name is Igor Levinsky, I'm in the 4th year of Industrial Design department in Shenkar College, more info about me you can find in my portfolio, and you can also follow my firs blog that support my final project.

So in the firs class we were asked to choose one of this themes :
Ready made
Made in China
Open design
Hacking design
Resources
Every thing is a Remix
Super normal

I guess that the theme that interesting me now is Open design, its actual and relevant theme that also can include another themes.

We also asked to find 10 chairs that we like, that inspire us. so..

It's took me much more time that i expected, I also needed to fined some "smart quote", so I choose this :
Design it’s not for philosophy, it’s for people.
Issey Miyake
We also need to find 5 "construction principles " so mine is :
- intersections
- folding
- bending
- strained
- geometric lock
In one sentence to explain the idea of my chair (with out using noun words ), so :
Construction that can be cut with CNC or laser cuter, with geometrical locking intersections.
Stuff from the net, you can see some nice blog here .

Hands on....

I did this mock up, something wrong with the proportions, its too high, the thing that I like that the back can be 3 dimension, its too artistic, looks like butterfly.
